Youth Worker

Tim Wye-Williams

Position within the Church: Full time Youth Pastor.

How long have you been a Christian? Since 1992.

How and why did you become a Christian? I have been to church all my life and so I’ve always had a good knowledge of what it means to be a Christian. When I was 13 I went along to a youth event in East London and responded to a call for anyone who wanted to become a Christian. That came at a tough point in my life where my parents were on the brink of divorce after a major relationship breakdown and I also struggled with not having any close friendships. I know that responding at the youth event was perfectly timed and being able to cling to God through those times were priceless.

What are your hobbies and interests? I love to worship God particularly through music and singing. I love working with young people, encouraging them, seeing them growing in their faith and just sharing life with them. Football is my biggest passion and I’ve been coaching since 1998. I hope to one day run a football academy where we provide the local community with various opportunities through football whilst keeping a Christian ethos at the heart of everything we do. I love watching films, cooking and catching up with friends too.

Do you have any family who attend church? No wife or children – my family are not at this church, though my immediate family are all believers.

What are your aspirations for All Saints’ Church for the next 12 months? That we would continually be listening to God and following where He leads us. That we would understand fully what it means to love each other. That we would worship with freedom in Spirit and in Truth. I would love to see the young people go to a new level in their walk with Christ this year as we seek to disciple and equip them in their Faith.

What are your long-term desires for All Saints’ Church? More Congregational plants, a thriving youth work, seeing people young and old working alongside each other, loving each other and seeing people respond to God, following their dreams and living like Jesus as we seek to change the area we live in. I want to see community being rebuilt, see people serving those around them through acts of love and ultimately to see the church ‘living life to the full’ as we seek to see the lost come to Christ.

Finally, what has been the best advice/guidance that somebody has given you as a Christian? ‘I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me’ Phil 4v13. A friend of mine reminded me recently that there is nothing that i cannot do because the Spirit lives in me. He encouraged me to live out the dreams that God has placed on my heart and that through Christ who strengthens me, I can achieve anything. I was constantly discouraged as a young person, but I aim to be an example particularly to to young people by accomplishing great things showing that a relationship with God is exciting and the only way to live.
